Myth #1: I am not an expert in writing
First of all, blogging doesn’t really mean that you need a degree in English. Instead, what matters the most is that you just need to be able to express your thoughts to your reader, and teach them something they want to know. Writing well may help you in getting your point across more easily but that is not a necessity; rather, it is just an added value to a post.
Myth #2: I’ll need to spend a lot of money to launch my blog
Hold on for a minute!
This is one of the biggest blogging myths I’ve heard from many people who’re looking to start their blog. But, trust me, you’ll be SURPRISED to know that it’s not at all expensive to start a blog.
I know you don’t want to spend a tonnes of money to start your blog early on. I felt exactly the same when I started blogging. So, how much does it really cost for starting a blog?
Well, you just need two things to launch your own blog:
- A Domain Name: This refers to the name of your blog that will give your blog an identity. You can easily get a domain name of your choice and it will cost you anywhere between $5 to $15 per year or even less if you purchase on festival occasions like black friday.
- Web host: This refers to the hosting or a web space where your blog will reside. There are various hosting providers that you can choose from for your blog. Most of the hosting provides come up with a free domain name for the first year so you can choose your package accordingly based on your requirements.
Myth #3: I do not really have time as I am too busy with my project deadlines
Yes, indeed, we all are busy with our project commitments as we need to complete our targets. But, it is not necessary to blog every single day. Instead, you can choose to blog only a few times a week or even a month. Remember, your focus must be on the appropriate topics and not the number of blogs you write for a given period of time. Studies have found that the companies who blog 15 or more times each month get 5 times more traffic than companies who do not blog at all.
Myth #4: I am unable write a blog in just 1 or 2 hours
Most people feel that they need some time to write a blog to make it look unique. Note that it is not necessary that every blog you write is a masterpiece. You can choose to write a blog in 1000 words or you can write in less than 100 words. You just need to ensure that the blog you write helps serve the audience for which you have targeted to write the blog.
Myth #5: Blogging is just a waste of time
Some people believe that there is so much content in the Web space then why there is a need for blogging. Well, blogging gives you a voice and a medium to express yourself. In addition, it also helps you to create a brand identity especially if you have something important to say.
Myth #6: Who will read my blog?
This is a fear rather than a myth that restricts most people to start a blog—fear of being rejected in the Web world. However, with sincere and proper efforts and a simplified approach, anyone can publish a successful blog.
Myth #7: I’ll need to post daily
I know a lot of bloggers who used to post a blog post 7 days per week but sooner they got tired in just a few months. So it is NOT at all necessary to pot a blog everyday but you need to schedule your blogs accordingly that suits you. I know you’ve tonnes of other work to do apart from blogging.
For instance, you can fix a schedule to post 2 blog posts per week or 1 per month. But, importantly, you need to stick with the schedule at any cost and stay consistent as your audience will be waiting for your content. If you decide to publish a blog post every week then you must do so on the same day. For example, if you publish a blog post on Monday then your readers will know when they will expect the next content from you.
